I.

Today at our lesson we shall repeat the home-task lexic, do word-formations, dialogues, we shall repeat grammar material, also we shall introduce with the text «Functions of money». Of course, we shall work on this interactive blackboard. Let’s answer my questions: 1. What date is it today? 2. What’s the weather like today? 3. How many lessons have you today? 4. What’s your favorite subject? 5. What’s your future profession? 6. Where do your parents receive the wages? 7. What currencies do your parents receive in the bank? 8. Does your family go in the market or in the supermarket for shopping? 9. Have you seen the American & Britain currencies? Do you want to have many dollars? What do you do that to have many dollars?

IV. And now I want to introduce you with the discriptions of the Kazakhstan, USA & Great Britain currencies.Look at the blackboard.

Kazakhstan tenge
Kazakhstan tenge is the currency of Kazakhstan. It is divided in 100 tyin. It was introduced in November 1993 to replace the Russian rouble. The word «tenge» means a set of scales. The origin of the word means being equal, balance.

November 15, 1993 is celebrated as the «Day of national currency of Republic of Kazakhstan». In 1995, a tenge printing factory was opened in Kazakhstan. The National Bank of Kazakhstan issused banknotes of new series in 2006. All denominations depict the Astana Baiterek monument, the flag of Kazakhstan, the Coat of arms, the handprint with a signature of president Nazarbayev and fragments of the national anthem.

Great Britain pound

The British currency is the pound sterling. In each pound there are 100 pence. Pounds are indicated by the symbol & before the amount. Pence are indicated by the letter ‘P’.There are 8 different British coins: there are one-pence coins, two-pence coins, five-pence coins, ten-pence coins, twenty-pence coins and fifty-pency coins. There are also one-pound coins and two-pound coins. Then there are five-pound notes, ten-pound notes, twenty-pound notes and fifty-pound notes. Bureau de change is situated in the banks. The British people are used the pound sterling in your appeal. In England the word «dollar» has been in use since 16th century.

American dollar

The basic unit of American currency is, course, the dollar.One dollar is 100 cents. There are 5different coins: there are one-cent coins,five-cent coins, ten-cent coins, ten-cent coins,twenty-five-cent coins and fifty-cent coins .There are one-dollar notes,five-dollar notes, ten-dollar notes, twenty-dollar notes,fifty-dollar notes and one-hundred-dollar notes. Usually the exchange rate is about one and a half dollars to the pound. All denominations depict the portrait of American presidents. 27 countries is used the name «dollar». $ — this sign means one/eight, or the «pieces of eight». The word «dollar» has been in use since 15 century. In 1786 the American Congress take the law to give own currency.

Functions of money

People accept money in exchange for goods and services. But the role of money depends on the state of development of an economy. Money has become an essential element of economies based on the division of labour, in which individuals have specialized in certain activities and enterprises have focused on manufacturing specific goods and rendering specific services. A great variety of commodities wheat, salt, gold, silver has served at one time or another as a medium of exchange in economic.

Money performs the function of a medium of exchange or means of payment with goods being exchanged for money and money for goods. At the same time it also acts as a unit of account. Money is a store of value, as part of an individuals income may be set aside for future consumption. These three functions of money — medium of exchange, unit of account and store of value — can only fulfilled if there is great confidence in its stability of value. Safeguarding monetary stability is the primary task of the central banks all over the world.
