AKazNU employees respect to veterans

Probably there are fewer families in Kazakhstan who were not involved in the Great Patriotic War. Family archives still contain pictures of the battlefield, newspaper memoirs, orders and medals. Most of those who showed unwavering perseverance, courage, and bravery left. Even after his death, his heroic deeds for his homeland will be remembered forever.

The number of veterans of the Great Patriotic War and labor veterans is decreasing day by day. The main task of today’s generation is to honor the veterans who lived through the dark ages and fought for the country and the land to the end.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University provides constant support and assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers. Despite the pandemic, this tradition continued this year. On the eve of Victory Day the rector of KazNU, doctor of philological sciences, professor Zh. M. Tuimebayev on behalf of, the Department of Educational Work of the University held a charity event «Respect for Veterans». As a part of the charity event, 121 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the labor front in the rear, the Afghan war and members of the University Council of Elders received special food baskets and financial assistance. Officials from the faculties met with each veteran in accordance with sanitary norms, asked about his condition, listened to his memories of the difficult war years, and handed over the assistance provided by the university.

The younger generation should know that today’s peaceful life under the sky is a noble legacy of our heroic ancestors. Protecting the homeland is a civic duty of every child of the country.
